Meet Alicia M. Crowe, JD.
Legal Strategist for Father-Serving Organizations
Founder of Fatherhood Advocacy + Legal Navigation™
Author of Real Dads Stand Up!

If you’re a service provider or fatherhood program striving to engage dads effectively, you know how complex legal issues around child support, custody, and co-parenting can create barriers for fathers. Many programs lack the tools and knowledge to address these challenges confidently, often leaving fathers feeling frustrated, misunderstood, or unsupported. I bridge that gap by providing tailored legal literacy education and culturally sensitive strategies that empower your team to better serve fathers, improve retention, and foster healthier family outcomes.

About Alicia M. Crowe

For over 30 years, Alicia M. Crowe has led transformative legal literacy and advocacy efforts, partnering with fatherhood programs, funders, and state agencies to dismantle legal fear and advance father engagement. Grounded in a strength-based approach, she honors the cultural experiences of the fathers she serves, believing that every dad’s greatest contribution begins with respecting their children's mother. As a legal educator—not providing legal advice or instructing on law practice—she empowers organizations and staff to confidently navigate child support, custody, and court involvement, driving measurable retention and equitable outcomes. Her evidence-based framework, rooted in her book Real Dads Stand Up! What Every Single Father Should Know About Child Support, Rights, and Custody has been adopted by the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA), county Child Support Enforcement agencies, and fatherhood programs nationwide. Alicia designs innovative strategies, licenses impactful curricula, and cultivates collaborative solutions that strengthen families and communities.

What I’ve learned — After more than 30 years inside the family court and child support system, I’ve learned something most fatherhood programs don’t say out loud: programs don’t lose fathers because they don’t care, they lose fathers because of legal fear.

This fear often appears early, before intake, before engagement, even before the first session.

Many organizations don’t need a lawyer in the courtroom; they need someone who can decode the legal system before crises arise, so fathers stay engaged long enough for programs to make a difference.

That’s why I created the Fatherhood Advocacy + Legal Navigation™ framework.

I train service providers, nonprofits, and state agencies to:

  • Address legal confusion without crossing legal boundaries

  • Reduce fear and shame around child support and custody

  • Increase retention, engagement, and measurable outcomes

I don’t just help fathers navigate systems. I help programs transform outcomes.

My approach, based on my book, has been adopted as a model by state and local agencies across the country, including the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA), Caroline County, and Dorchester County, MD, and numerous fatherhood programs nationwide.

Let’s work together to break down legal barriers, reduce fear, and keep fathers engaged so your program can achieve lasting, positive impact.
